How to compare wedding vendor quotes
Quotes from different vendors rarely line up. Before you compare them:
- Work out the total for your guest count. Per-person prices hide fixed fees, and minimums can make a small wedding more expensive per guest.
- Add every fee. Service charges, gratuity, tax, delivery, setup, overtime and cake-cutting fees often sit outside the headline price.
- Line up what's included. Staff, rentals, hours of coverage, a second shooter, tastings. One vendor's extras are another's standard.
- Check the payment terms. How big is the deposit, is it refundable, and when is the balance due?
For example, a caterer at $68 a guest can cost more than one at $74 once staff and cake-cutting fees are added. For 120 guests, that can be a difference of over $1,000.
